Fr. Pimen was born in Dallas, TX and raised in California, Illinois, and Oregon.

He holds a joint PhD in Social Anthropology & Middle Eastern Studies from Harvard University, an MA in Latin American Studies from The University of Arizona, and a BS in Geography from Oregon State University. Prior to his consecration and ordination, he worked as a professor of anthropology and religion at Leiden University College, The Netherlands from August 2012 until February 2013, and at Scripps College in Claremont, CA from 2010-2012.

From 2012, he served at both St. Marina Church (Irvine) and St. Paul Church (Tustin).

On November 7, 2013, he was ordained as Deacon at St. Demiana Church (San Diego) by His Grace Bishop Serapion, and on November 10, 2013, he was ordained presbyter by Their Graces Bishop Serapion and Bishop Youssef to continue his service at St. Paul and St. Marina.
